DR UK Annual Conference from 1.30pm to 4pm
Hosted by Samantha Renke
This year marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Disability Discrimination Act becoming law. To recognise that, and to feed into the governnment's National Strategy for Disabled People (due out next year) we've been running a campaign this year called We Belong.
Join Sam and our interviewees who will be discussing how they have got through the pandemic, what has motivated them to do what they do as, and for, Disabled people, and (tying in to our We Belong campaign and the forthcoming National Strategy for Disabled People) what needs to change to make society work for us as Disabled people.
Interviewees:
- Clenton Farquharson MBE, passionate campaigner and advocate, he is chair of Think Local Act Personal and ambassador of DR UK. Clenton was named on Disability News Services’ list of influential disabled people.
- Baroness Campbell of Surbiton, driven by a fierce passion for equality and human rights, but most importantly a love of her community and a hatred of injustice
- Shaun Webster MBE, human rights campaigner with the charity, CHANGE
- Saba Salman, journalist and author of Made Possible, Stories of success by people with learning disabilities
- Anne Wafula Strike MBE, Paralympic wheelchair racer and campaigner
We, Disabled people, are 20% of the population. We are friends, family members, colleagues, and neighbours. We are part of society and contribute to all aspects of life - We Belong.
This is a pivotal moment for disabled people. Join us for a get together of disabled people, to share our stories, learn from one another and to contribute to a better future.
Our conference will be held online, using Zoom.
BSL interpretation and live captioning will be available.
