These are the main relevent bills outlined in this year's Queen's speech

Pensions Bill

This Bill introduces the single-tier state-pension system and increases the retirement age to 67 between 2026 and 2028. The Bill allows the retirement age to be regularly reviewed to take account of life expectancy.

Care Bill

This Bill

  • places a cap on the cost of social care
  • gives carers the legal right to support from their local council
  • provides protection if your care provider goes out of business
  • gives you the legal right to a personal care budget, which you can get as a direct payment to spend as you wish

The bill will apply to England only.

National Insurance Contributions Bill

This bill is intended to encourage small businesses to provide employment. It is intended that from April 2014 that every business and charity will be entitled to a £2,000 employment allowance.

Mesothelioma Bill

This bill will set up a payment scheme, for those with Mesothelioma as a result of exposure to asbestos, who cannot trace the employer responsible for their asbestos exposure or their employer's insurance company. If you are diagnosed with mesothelioma from 25 July 2012 you will be able to make a claim under tis scheme.
