Three jobseekers are seeking a judicial review following the introduction of retrospective legislation introduced to save the Government money after losing a court case

The jobseekers were successful in quashing Jobseeker's Allowance (Employment, Skills and Enterprise Scheme) Regulations were used  to create most of the Government’s Back to Work schemes.

The court found that the regulations failed to provide enough detail about the “Back to Work” schemes in the Regulations and so were quashed.

The ruling meant that anyone sanctioned and stripped of benefits over the past two years could potentially claim these back but the Government introduced The Jobseekers (Back to Work Schemes) Act 2013 to prevent this.

The jobseekers are hoping to overturn this law. For more information see www.guardian.co.uk/society/2013/jun/11/jobseekers-law-denying-benefit-rebates
