From 7 October 2013 The Government will introduce a single fee remissions system in all courts and tribunals and the UK Supreme Court.

The fee remission aims to help people on lower incomes who would otherwise have difficultly paying a fee to use court or tribunal services.

A fee remission is a full or partial waiver of the fees that become payable when an individual uses these services.

The Government has set out, in the document Fee remissions for the courts and tribunals – consultation response, its proposals for a single remissions system for all courts and tribunals, including the UK Supreme Court. This will be introduced on 7 October 2013.
