Our Champion for I Can Make It in Hertfordshire, Bethany Young, participated in two separate board meetings at Hertfordshire County Council in the space of 72 hours.
Along with our Research and Engagement Officer Anna Denham, on Tuesday 13th June Bethany attended the employment board meeting where they met with key decision makers from across the council, to seek the council’s adoption of I Can Make It and its approach of using social value to open up new job opportunities for people with disabilities and health conditions.
On Thursday the 15th of June, the pair were back at the council to attend the Diversity and Equality Board meeting. In both meetings Bethany was: “successfully able to inform those present about her experiences in trying to forge a career path and participate in constructive Q and A”.
We’re excited about the progress we can make in Hertfordshire, and are planning to meet with the Council’s Procurement team as well as having also started dialogue with the Human Resources and Children’s Services departments.
We’d also like to congratulate Anna Denham, who alongside her duties for I Can Make It will be working as part of a DR UK / University of Bristol partnership entitled ‘Getting Things Changed’. We wish Anna the best with this interesting project.
