We’d like to use our weekly update to remind everyone of the videos that I Can Make It and Disability Rights UK have made on employment.
We have our two I Can Make It Presents videos, showing two young people with disabilities at work. In April 2016, Disability Rights UK and National Star College co-produced a video of two disabled interns at EDF Energy, both of whom went on to become employees for the company. In fact, there are a number of videos on Disability Rights UK’s YouTube Channel on various subjects of importance to disabled people. So, please do look at and share them with any individuals or networks who may be interested.
Turning to more recent activity, last week our Champion for the North-East, Jonathan Mears, met with officials at Gateshead Council to discuss our ambitions to create job opportunities in the Gateshead area and our progress so far. We’re looking forward to strengthening our co-operation through engaging with other relevant Council departments. Nationally, more meetings are coming soon, including induction meetings for our newer champions at Disability Rights UK’s office in East London.
