Disability Rights UK has joined forces with Groundwork, The Prince’s Trust, and Mission Diverse to launch New to Nature – a brand new programme that will see young people aged 18-25 given full-time, temporary work placements in nature and landscape organisations across the UK, increasing diversity and enriching the sector by bringing in young Disabled people’s skills and perspectives.
Funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund as part of the celebrations to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, the programme will run until May 2024 and provide paid work placements for at least 70 young people from diverse backgrounds to undertake a range of environmental roles. Disabled young people one of the priority groups that host organisations are targeting applications from.
We will be working closely with the Youth Environmental Service to ensure the programme acts as a stepping stone for a longer-term journey of change within the sector.
