Northern Ireland film An Irish Goodbye won best live-action short film at Sunday night's ceremony. The film is a black comedy set on a rural farm in Glenmornan, a small hamlet west of County Tyrone in Northern Ireland. It follows two brothers, Turlough and Lorcan, who are estranged.
Actor James Martin, who plays Lorcan is the first person with Downs syndrome to win an oscar. He said he planned to bring the award home to his drama group in Belfast. The film's directors Tom Berkeley and Ross White described the win as the best night of their lives. James Martin is also an ambassador for Mencap Northern Ireland.
