Committing to the real Living Wage is also about the third sector aligning our actions to our mission. Low pay is reinforcing inequality in our sector: women in the sector are over six percentage points more likely to experience pay below the real Living Wage than men; disabled workers are over three percentage points more likely to earn less than the Living Wage compared to those who are not disabled; and Black, Bangladeshi, and Pakistani workers, are all more likely to experience low pay when compared other groups.
Paying the Living Wage has always been about doing the right thing. But with prices rising higher than ever, it’s never been more important that employers commit to a Living Wage so workers and their families can make ends meet. With 14% of the Third Sector earning below a real Living Wage, we’d love your organisation to consider joining over 3500 others in the Third Sector, and lead the way on ending in-work poverty.
