An autistic woman has been left without adequate support after Salford Council failed to review her care plan for five years.
The Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman found that a failure to review the woman's care plan led indirectly to it being ended. She was left without any support for six months.
The Council was also found to have failed to provide any autism awareness training for staff in contravention of statutory guidance.
Sue Bott, DRUK's Head of Policy and Research said: "this is a shocking case. Salford Council cannot hide behind the excuse of austerity and cutbacks. This is simply very poor service."
