On Tuesday the 5 September Jonathan Mears, champion for I Can Make It in the North East of England met with the entire procurement department of Gateshead Council to explain the campaign to them and discuss networking opportunities.
He had some positive discussions with the department and we’re looking forward to helping Gateshead Council proceed with using social value to open up job opportunities for people with disabilities and health conditions, both on current contracts and in the future.
On Friday the 8th of December, our CEO Kamran Malik, Our Policy and Development Manager Philip Connolly and Leo Capella along with our champion for I Can Make It in Hertfordshire Bethany Young went to Transport for Londons offices at Windsor House near St James Park in London. This was to meet David Wylie, Chief Procurement Officer and Tim Rudin, Supplier Skills Project Manager for Transport for London.
We had a very productive meeting and are looking forward to working closely with TfL in order to potentially form a strategic partnership to create job opportunities for people with disabilities throughout TfL’s supply chains. In addition, we are looking forward to meeting with major suppliers and the Greater London Authority procurement group as well as other contacts in Transport for London. We’d like to thank David Wylie and Tim Rudin for being so receptive to our message and co-operating immaculately with our campaign, as well as Bethany Young for attending and providing some valuable points during the meeting.
Finally, all of us at I Can Make It would like congratulate one of our champions for the campaign in Manchester, Kathryn Woodhead who started her new job on Monday (8th of September) as a Content Writer for NCC Education . Kathryn has done great work for us including making our supporters infographic, our procurement flyer and invitations for I Can Make It Exchange, our event on the 27th of March which brought professionals together with our Champions. This is well as representing the campaign at several meetings for us.
We wish her the very best of fortune in her new role.
