The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy has been criticised for excluding plans for disabled people in their recently published Green Paper.
Lisa Cameron MP for East Kilbride, Strathaven and Lesmahagow, highlighted the unfair strategy in a recent early day motion to UK Government.
Dr Cameron has called for closer collaboration between the Department for Work and Pensions and the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy amend the current omission of disabled people from the draft industrial strategy and to support inclusion going forward.
In order to achieve the UK Government's commitment to supporting one million disabled people into work,
Dr Cameron MP said,
“In this day and age it is ridiculous for there to be no provisions or even mentions in regards to people who have disabilities. In order for this country to have a progressive and inclusive Government, we need to include people from all backgrounds.
People who have disabilities have as much to offer as someone without a disability. We should treat them as such and our policies should reflect this.”
