This week we’ve had a visit from Luke Johnson, a Modern Apprentice in Hull City Council’s Procurement Department, as part of Hull’s efforts for their year as UK Capital of Culture.

Luke’s role has been created in partnership with I Can Make It and is aimed at helping fulfil our aims in Hull and the surrounding area. During his time here Luke met with members of staff, including our CEO Liz Sayce, and discussed how he and ‘I Can Make It’ could work together. Luke also heard more about subjects including the Social Value Act as well as the wider situation for people with disabilities in the UK.

Luke thought that his time in London was a “solid start” and that I Can Make  It "is something I’m very excited to be a part of that offers a great deal of promise going forwards”. We were equally impressed by Luke and look forward to working closely with him over the coming year.

If you’re 18-29, have a disability or long term health condition and would like to join Luke in helping to improve the career prospects of thousands of young disabled people nationwide, then please e-mail leo.capella@disabilityrightsuk.org . More information about I Can Make It can be found on our webpage.
