As this is the last update from us before DR UK goes to sleep over Christmas and the New Year, we’d like to wish all our champions, followers, partners and supporters a Merry Christmas and a bright, prosperous, 2017.
For us it’s a final drive to the finish of the year. On Monday, Kathryn Woodhead and Will Case held a further meeting with Salford City Council. They gained lots of ideas to take forward in their work in the New Year.
Will said “I think it was a good experience sharing knowledge, as local authorities like Salford city council don’t normally meet people with disabilities. I found that they wanted to improve their services and employ more disabled people, as a result they were very welcoming.”
At this time we’d like to salute the Manchester section of I Can Make It: Will Case, Kathryn Woodhead and Andrew Tarpey, for their excellent efforts over a relatively short and intense period of time. We look forward to more progress from them in the new year. However, we would like to thank all our champions across the country for their sterling efforts in spreading I Can Make It’s message. We really do appreciate it, and are excited about what we can achieve together in 2017.
I Can Make It is starting to attract a lot of attention from local governments in target cities across England, including ones where we don’t currently have a volunteer champion in place, such as Liverpool and Nottingham. So if you are 18-29, have a disability or health condition live in and around either of those cities or our other target ones and want to join us in helping to improve the career prospects of yourself and other young disabled people, then please get in touch with us on 0207 250 8193 or via leo.capella@disabilityrightsuk.org
