On Wednesday 27th of July I Can Make It had a meeting with Bristol City Council.

This was a chance for us to meet with senior officers from across the council and align I Can Make It to projects Bristol City Council were working on.

The meeting was attended by seven people from different departments, as well as an external contractor expressing their interest in the campaign.

As a direct result of the meeting we were also able to meet with the Impellam Group  in London on Monday the 1st of August for a very productive meeting, to discuss how young disabled people could better access longer term employment through the temporary jobs route.

We thank all the meeting attendees, and especially Jacqueline Miller, Commercial Development Manager at Bristol City Council, who took the time to initiate contact with us and to arrange the event.

In the future we hope to work closely with Bristol City Council and their partners to create job opportunities for young people with disabilities and long term health conditions. However the campaign needs to be led by those we represent.

So if you’re 18-29, have a disability or long term health condition and wish to help improve the career prospects of thousands of young disabled people in Bristol and nationwide, then please visit our I Can Make It page or e-mail leo.capella@disabilityrightsuk.org for more information.
