The Care Act represents a major re-write of social care legislation, the like of which hasn’t been seen for over 60 years . Whilst personalisation is a key concept underpinning the Act, careful consideration is needed by people who use services and carers so that personalised care and support works in practice to meet the needs of the individual. The guidance that goes with specific clauses in the Act need to be carefully considered as it will have a major impact on the experience of ‘self-directed support’.
