Today the coalition on prescription charges, of which Disability Rights UK is a member, has published a report into the effects of prescription charges on people with long term conditions “Paying the Price”
We have found out that people with conditions, such as heart disease, arthritis and many others, are having to choose between food, clothing, bills or prescriptions. It is wrong that people are stopping or rationing their prescriptions because of an outdated and arbitrary system. Charging is also short-sighted as it makes it more difficult for people to manage their conditions effectively, leading to more severe health problems and extra costs to the NHS and society as a whole.
If you live in England, please write to your MP today, asking them to call for an end to prescription charges for people with long term conditions. It only takes two minutes. With your help we can show politicians that there is widespread support for ending this injustice.
